Pantry Assistant works on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. Your kitchen is the same everywhere you sign in.

Sign in

There's no password. Type your email and tap Continue. We email you a 6-digit code, which works for 10 minutes. Type it in, or tap the link in the email. Can't find it? Check spam: it comes from no-reply@pantryassistant.app.

New here? The app asks the year you were born, and doesn't keep it. Nobody under 13 gets their own account. A parent can add them to their kitchen instead.

Joining someone's kitchen? Open the invite link they sent you. It takes you straight in, with no setup. See Kitchens, people and roles.

What will you use it on?

We'll email you a link to confirm. Nothing is kept until you tap it.

Set up in three steps

  1. Name your kitchen. Everyone in your kitchen shares its food, lists and dinners.
  2. What do you have? Open the Fridge, the Freezer and the Pantry and tap the foods you see. Start with a few things and add more as you go. In a hurry? Skip for now: Tonight already has dinners for you.
  3. Who's in your kitchen? Add a child with no phone, or invite a grown-up with their own account. Or tap Just me · Open my kitchen.

After you name your kitchen, you can tap Do this later on any step.

Tonight

The app opens on Tonight, with a dinner idea picked from what you have. See Reload and allergies, and always check labels.

Along the bottom of the screen are five tabs (at the top on Android; change it in Settings, Preferences & notifications, Tab bar). On iPad and a wide screen they're down the side. The tabs: Tonight, Pantry, List, Recipes and Plan.

Better ideas in 4 steps

Owners and Editors see a card on Tonight with four steps that make dinner ideas better:

  • Fill your kitchen: tap what's in the fridge, freezer and pantry.
  • Check what's always on hand: salt, oil, spices and the like are already counted, under Always on hand.
  • Add a dinner you make: paste a link, or start with one of ours.
  • Invite the people you cook with: each person gets their own link.

A step ticks off when anyone in the kitchen does it. Tap the X to hide the card.

Then, each day

Answer the daily Check-in to keep the pantry right. After a shop, put things away.

If the app can't reach our server

The app keeps working. If it can't reach our server for a few minutes, a band at the top says "Sync is delayed. Your changes are saved on this phone." Lines on the list and the plan marked Not sent yet go out by themselves when the connection is back, and so does everything else you changed. There's nothing to do.
