What's new
Every Pantry Assistant release, newest first. Each one says what's new and what we fixed.
New to Pantry Assistant? Get the app. Already have it? Update in the App Store or Google Play.
Version 1.0
New
- A recipe shows which ingredients are already on your list, and a + puts any one of them there.
- Plan a recipe for any day from its calendar button, or tap Cook tonight.
- The Pantry Assistant website, with Help articles and this page.
Fixed
- Adding a child during setup no longer says "Couldn't save that" when it saved.
Version 0.9.1
New
- Share a recipe as a web page, a picture or a card to print. The person who gets it can save it to their kitchen.
- Setup is shorter: "What do you have?", then "Who's in your kitchen?".
- Receipt Scan warns you about a receipt you already scanned, and places more lines on its own.
- Invite links show a preview card in your messages.
- The app asks once if you'd like to help improve it, with a switch in Settings.
Fixed
- Reload leans on what you have when the pantry is thin.
- A scan that fails on our end says so, instead of asking you to retake the photo.
Version 0.9
New
- Shelf Scan: take up to 3 photos of a shelf and it updates that zone. Anything it can't name goes under "Couldn't tell".
- Thaw reminders and Freeze it: the Check-in tells you when to move frozen food to the fridge, and offers to freeze food near its date.
- Running out no longer fills your list by itself. The Check-in asks which ones you want on it.
- Cook mode reads each step aloud and calls out the timer.
- Share your list as text, send a recipe link to the app from any other app, and spot slow cooker dinners at a glance.
- Setup and joining a kitchen ask about allergies, and you still check labels.
Fixed
- Cooked takes off the list only the items that recipe added, and a dinner you skip stays skipped.
- Invite and sign-in links open the app when it's on your phone.
Version 0.8.2
Fixed
- Joining a kitchen from an invite link opens the kitchen, instead of saying the link no longer works.
Version 0.8.1
Fixed
- Scanning a receipt while a Put Away is open no longer loses the photo.
Version 0.8
New
- The new look reaches Recipes, Cook mode, the Pantry, Put Away, the Check-in, Settings and sign-in.
- Dark mode follows your phone.
- Layouts made for the iPad.
- A new scan camera, a menu when you press and hold, and sheets that move out of the keyboard's way.
Fixed
- Tab labels respond to a tap, and button labels fit on one line.
Version 0.7
New
- A new look for Tonight, Reload, the Plan, Fill my week and the List, with a kitchen switcher at the top.
- After a Receipt Scan, you see what happened to the lines, including any it could not read.
Fixed
- A Starter Recipe you save keeps its picture.
Version 0.6
New
- Receipt Scan: take a photo of a receipt and its items land in your Put Away.
- The app asks before any photo is read by AI, and you can change your answer in Settings.
- Add a photo of yourself, and of the people in your kitchen who don't sign in.
Fixed
- Pantry dates follow your kitchen's time zone.
Version 0.5
New
- The daily Check-in: a reminder each day with your planned dinner and a few pantry questions, each already set to our best guess.
- Bring in a recipe by pasting a link. Its photo and credit come with it.
- 71 Starter Recipes, each with a picture.
- Plan your week. The Plan looks ahead at what your pantry will have.
- Download all your data.
Fixed
- Tonight shows the dinner you planned for tonight.
- Ingredients match your pantry foods more often, and a failed invite link says why.
Version 0.4
New
- Your Pantry, with batches, zones and dates, and Always on hand for the basics.
- Shopping lists by aisle, shared or private, that work offline. Put Away moves what you bought into the pantry.
- Your own recipes, and Cooked when you make one.
- Reload picks tonight's dinner and plans around everyone's allergies, and you still check labels.
- Sign in with a code or link sent to your email.
- Setup screens, the Get Started card, and Settings for you and your account.
Version 0.3
New
- Start a kitchen and see it on every device you sign in on, even offline.
- Invite people to your kitchen with a link.
- Updates arrive on their own, and a very old version asks you to update.
Version 0.2
Behind-the-scenes planning and design work.
Version 0.1
Base system.
