The daily Check-in

The Check-in is how your pantry keeps up without you typing. Once a day the app asks a few questions about what changed. Every answer is already set to its best guess. Most days one tap confirms them all.
Where to find it
When there's something to check, Tonight's check-in sits at the top of Tonight. Tap it to open it.
On iPad held sideways or a wide screen, the Check-in is a card right on Tonight instead, and a planned dinner's buttons read Made and Didn't make.
On a phone, the app can also nudge you in the evening. Tap the nudge to open the app, then tap the Check-in card.
What it asks
- Thaw for dinner: "Move the chicken to the fridge for tomorrow", for a planned dinner whose food is only in the freezer. It comes a day ahead, or more for something big like a whole turkey. Moved it moves it to the fridge in the app. Not needed changes nothing.
- Did you make it? for each planned dinner. We made it takes what the recipe used off your pantry. Didn't make it takes nothing off.
- A few pantry checks: food about to pass its date, like "Eggs: expiry tomorrow", or "Still have Milk?". Answer Still have, Used or Tossed. Food about to expire can also get Freeze it.
- You're out of these: foods that ran out. Nothing goes on the shopping list unless you tap Add to the list.
- Finish your Put Away, if you have one waiting. See Put Away.
One tap
Change any answer that's wrong, then tap Looks right. That saves every answer, guesses included. You can undo it right after.
There's one Check-in for the whole kitchen. Once anyone answers a question, it's gone for everyone, and the first answer counts. An answered question can be changed until the next Check-in.
A question nobody answers drops off after 3 days, and its food is left as it was.
Owners and Editors answer the kitchen's questions. Viewers only see their own Put Away.
Reminders
In Settings, open Meals & reminders:
- Get the check-in turns your own nudge on or off, and Check-in time sets when it comes (7:00, 8:00 or 9:00 pm). This is just for you.
- Thaw reminders and Freeze it turn those questions on or off for the whole kitchen. Both start on. Only Owners and Editors change them.
Nudges are on phones only. On the web, the Check-in waits on Tonight.
