Mealime alternatives after the shutdown
Last checked
Mealime closed on October 21, 2026. If you used it, you are looking for somewhere else to plan dinner. This page says what Mealime's own page says, then lists six places, each described from its own page or store listing. We read every page on October 26, 2026.
What Mealime's page says
Mealime's closing page is at mealime.com/closing. On October 26, 2026 it said:
- Mealime is being discontinued on October 21, 2026.
- Its FAQ says Albertsons Companies acquired Mealime in 2021.
- Its recipes and meal-planning features are moving to Meals Hub, which is available through Albertsons Companies grocery store apps and websites.
- Paid Mealime subscriptions are being wound down, the page says all Pro recipes and features become available to all Mealime users, and Pro subscribers won't be charged further subscription fees before the shutdown.
- You find Meals Hub in the More tab of an Albertsons Companies store app. Dietary preferences are managed in the Meals Hub profile after signing in, and some Mealime settings must be set up again there.
- Personal data will be deleted when Mealime shuts down, and you can ask for deletion before then.
That is all we know about Mealime. The page may change.
What Pantry Assistant is, and is not
Pantry Assistant is a pantry and dinner app. It keeps track of the food in your kitchen, asks a few quick questions each day in the Check-in, and picks tonight's dinner from what you have. It is not a diet-profile meal planner. It does not import another app's data, so it can't bring over anything from Mealime. You can import a recipe from a link, one recipe at a time.
The six, side by side
The table says what each page says on the date shown, and the one place each is stronger.
| App | Their page says | Stronger at |
|---|---|---|
| Meals Hub | Mealime's own page says its recipes and meal-planning features are moving to Meals Hub, which is in Albertsons Companies grocery store apps and websites. You find it in the More tab of an Albertsons Companies store app, and you manage dietary preferences in its profile after signing in. | It is Mealime's named successor, and it carries the former Mealime Pro recipes. If you shop at an Albertsons Companies store, it is already in an app you may have. |
| AnyList | Shared lists that "show up instantly" for everyone on them, your own recipes, recipe import from other sites, and a calendar to plan meals and add a recipe's ingredients to your list. iPhone, iPad, Mac and web, with a Google Play link for Android. | Shared shopping lists that stay in sync, and adding items with Siri. |
| Plan to Eat | A Recipe Clipper that saves recipes from any site (its page's own description), a calendar to plan meals, and a shopping list that fills in from the recipes you plan. iOS, Android and web. | Saving recipes from the web into one collection, then planning them on a calendar. |
| Samsung Food | Its App Store listing says you can discover "over 240,000 public recipes", filter by "14 different diets", plan weekly meals and turn them into shopping lists. iPhone, iPad and web. | A very large recipe library and diet filters. |
| Paprika | An app that "helps you organize your recipes, make meal plans, and create grocery lists", with a built-in browser to save recipes from the web. iOS, Mac, Android and Windows. | A recipe manager for iOS, Mac, Android and Windows, with plans by the week or the month. |
| Pantry Assistant | A pantry and dinner app. A daily Check-in keeps your pantry current in one tap, Reload picks tonight's dinner from your own recipes and our Starter Recipes. iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Each Diner's allergies are checked, so check labels. | Knowing what is in your kitchen, so tonight's dinner comes from food you have. It is not the pick if you want a diet-profile meal planner or a big public recipe library. |
Common questions
What happens to my Mealime recipes?
Mealime's closing page, read on October 26, 2026, answers "Will my favorite recipes still be available?" with "Yes. All Mealime recipes will continue to be available on Meals Hub, along with thousands of additional recipes and meal-planning ideas." It doesn't describe moving your own saved recipes. To "Can I transfer my Mealime account information to MealsHub?" it says: "You can create or sign in to your Albertsons Cos. store app to access Meals Hub features. Certain preferences and settings will need to be established directly within Meals Hub." It also says personal data will be deleted when Mealime shuts down, and that you can ask for deletion before then. If you still have a recipe's link, you can import it from the link into the app you choose. Pantry Assistant imports one recipe at a time from a link. It can't read a Mealime account.
Which of these plans around food needs?

- AnyList: the page we read doesn't mention food needs.
- Plan to Eat: the page says you can plan meals around "dietary needs". It doesn't describe settings for food needs.
- Samsung Food: the listing mentions filtering by 14 diets. It doesn't describe settings for food needs.
- Paprika: the page we read doesn't mention food needs.
- Pantry Assistant: Reload leaves out dinners with the allergies of each Diner you pick, using the ingredients it knows about, so check labels. A dinner shows "Checked for Alex · check labels." Tapping it says: "Checked for Alex: peanuts. Always check labels."
