Connect your assistant
Last checked
You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok to your kitchen. Then you can ask it what's for dinner, have it add to your lists, or have it walk you through setting up a kitchen. See Works with your assistant for what it does and the plan each assistant needs.
Before you start
You need a Pantry Assistant account and a kitchen with Plus. A new kitchen has Plus free for its first 14 days. Your assistant's own plan may matter: check its settings for custom connectors.
The server address to paste is https://app.pantryassistant.app/mcp.
Connect
Find where your assistant adds a custom connector or custom app:
- Claude: Customize, then Connectors, then Add, then Add custom connector.
- ChatGPT: Settings, then Apps or Connectors. Where custom connectors are offered depends on your plan and workspace.
- Gemini: In the Gemini web app, Settings, then Connected Apps, then add a custom app.
- Grok: grok.com/connectors, then New Connector, then Custom.
Then:
- Paste the server address and continue.
- When the sign-in page opens, enter your email and the code we send you.
- Choose what the assistant may do. Read-only lets it look. Read and change also lets it add to lists and similar.
- Approve. Back in your assistant, ask "list my kitchens".
To set up a new kitchen by talking, copy the Setup Prompt from Works with your assistant and paste it into the chat.
What it can and can't do
It acts as you, with your Role in each kitchen. It can't delete, make bulk changes or send photos. It never sees allergies, foods you can't eat or diets, so always check labels. Each change it makes shows the assistant's name.
Disconnect
In the Pantry Assistant app, open Settings, then Connected apps, and tap Disconnect next to the assistant. That ends its access at once. You can also remove the connector in your assistant: in Claude, Customize, then Connectors, then the connector, then Remove.
